"We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike"

Maya Angelou

We are all made of stories. This is something we all have in common. Sharing our stories with one another is a way we, as people, connect with each other. Textiles with their patterns and colors speak a language that crosses cultures. They have the power to tell stories and therefore the ability to connect people across countries and cultures.

In the artworks, the motifs in the background, as well as the fabric circles act as cultural identifiers. One can realize similarities between some of these motifs. It shows that many patterns represent combinations of influence (due to people traveling afar and interacting with each others).
